Local Government Administration

The administration of Local Government Areas in Anambra State is structured to promote effective governance, accountability and efficient service delivery at the grassroots level. Each Local Government operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and relevant laws of Anambra State, under the general supervision of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission.

Names of Local Government Chairmen

The twenty-one (21) Local Government Areas in Anambra State are administered by duly elected Chairmen, who represent the will of the people at the grassroots level. These Chairmen are responsible for ensuring good governance, transparency, and the effective delivery of public services within their respective Local Government Areas.

Oversight by the Local Government Service Commission

The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission is responsible for the regulation and management of local government personnel. Its functions include recruitment, promotion, discipline and capacity development of staff across all Local Government Areas, ensuring professionalism and consistency in the local government system.
